Scholarships are gift aid and do not have to be repaid. Scholarships are offered through Cal Poly Pomona as well as several organizations, businesses and community groups that are external to the university. Scholarships are generally awarded on the basis of academic merit, leadership, talent, and/or community service. Financial need is a criterion for some but not all scholarships. Eligibility criteria, application procedures and deadlines may vary by program.
Cal Poly Pomona scholarships are available through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, the academic colleges and multiple campus departments and include:
Cal Poly Pomona General Scholarships refer to those scholarships that are administered through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. These scholarships are generally awarded to entering and/or continuing students on the basis of academic merit, leadership, talent and community service. Financial need is a criterion for some but not all scholarships. All academic majors are considered. General scholarships require a minimum GPA of 3.0 and full-time enrollment.
Students who complete the Cal Poly Pomona General Scholarship application are automatically considered for the scholarships for which they are eligible. Scholarships are normally awarded during spring and summer for the following academic year. During that time award notices are sent which include the scholarship amount. Students do not receive denial notices. Consideration for scholarships may continue throughout the year.
The Honors Fellowship is the most prestigious scholarship offered to entering freshmen at Cal Poly Pomona. The Honors Fellowship recognizes students who bring outstanding academic and personal qualifications to the Kellogg Honors College; students who will promote excellence and contribute to a positive campus environment. To be considered for the Honors Fellowship you must first be accepted to the Kellogg Honors College. Students who are admitted to the Kellogg Honors College automatically will be considered for the Honors Fellowship based on information provided on the Kellogg Honors College application.
Students, faculty, and staff may perform their own scholarship search by using the FastWeb program. The FastWeb program is available on the Internet at: http://fastweb.monster.com.<Students, faculty, or staff who initiate a scholarship search will automatically create an electronic mail box for themselves which may be accessed anytime. As new scholarship opportunities arise, the information will automatically be forwarded into the electronic mail box.
